Mini Review: Safi Hydra Glow Cleanser & Oil-Free Moisturizer
So. It’s been a (very long) while since I updated this little blog of mine. And honestly, I am ashamed of myself for not being able to even commit to a twice a month posting schedule I had set up for myself. A shame, really. *shakes head*
Anyway, quite a lot of things happened in my life, and I was grappling with my own negative emotions as well so that might have sapped away all of my energy and motivation I had had for this blog. But! Fortunately, I still keep with me little notes on skincare I’ve used over the past year, so hopefully I can get back to writing reviews on those products.
Quite a lot has changed as well concerning my skincare journey. But that’s a story for another day. Right now I would like to focus on these mini reviews I have planned for two products from Safi Hydra Glow range. These two were one of the first products I tried back when I was starting my skincare journey (and I didn’t, unfortunately, jotted down my thought on them somewhere), so the reviews I’m going to give in this post would be based solely on how I remember feeling and thinking about them at that time.
For this mini review section, I won’t go that deep into ingredients and stuff like that. I’ll just jump straight to the review.
Safi Hydra Glow Hydrating Water Cleanser
This one is a very nice basic hydrating cleanser. I checked my Shopee purchase history the other day and was surprised to find that I have re-purchased this at least three times before I decided to stop and use other brand’s cleanser. I used to use this cleanser exclusively at night (because I was using COSRX Good Morning Cleanser in the morning).
My experience of using this had been nice. No irritation, no tight feeling on skin after rinsing it off, no sensitivity to any of its ingredients. I would rate its cleansing power 6 out 10 now that I have tried a number of cleansers and felt their differences. The formula was hydrating. It’s not gel, though, but kind of like light cream, which made me wonder for a minute there why they called it “water cleanser”. It lathered nicely and had lots of bubbles. I personally had no problem with it. It felt nice to me. No weird scent either, as far as I could remember.
The last time I used this (which was around April last year), I found out that they’d reformulated the cleanser. They added a few new ingredients in it (if I’m not mistaken) and changed the ‘Fermented Rice Extract’ part to ‘Korean Rice’ something. But that’s not the reason why I stopped using the cleanser, though. If anything, I couldn’t really tell the difference between the old and new formula. There was a slight difference, I guess, but it’s so subtle it’s barely noticeable. And I didn’t break out from the new formula, so all’s well that ends well.
Overall, it’s a nice and simple hydrating cleanser that I wouldn’t mind recommending to those with oily skin.
Safi Hydra Glow Moisturizer Oil-Free Gel Moisturizer
This one was the first ever moisturizer I used and it was... okay. Honestly, it felt kind of basic to me after I’ve tried a number of different moisturizers throughout these two years of my skincare journey. Nothing mind-blowing that changed my skin dramatically or something. Just a nice and simple moisturizer, like its cleanser. I would rate its moisturizing power 5 out 10. I don’t remember it bringing any significant changes to the oiliness level of my skin, but it did make my skin felt a little smoother than before. All in all, it was fine.
So, would I recommend these? Honestly speaking, not really. But if you’re a beginner in skincare and want to try something simple, then these products are a nice, considerable option for you. Both the cleanser and the moisturizer are affordable here in Malaysia and easily accessible, so that’s a big plus. And as far as I could remember, the ingredients are mostly nice with niacinamide, hyaluronic acid, glycerin, and panthenol in it – all great for skin hydration. But then again, always, always check the ingredient list first and do your due diligence before making your purchase because like everything else, your mileage may vary. It might work fine on me, but if someone has an allergic to, say, niacinamide or rice ferment, then these products will definitely be a no-go for them.
Thank you for reading until the end! Hopefully this sudden streak of motivation I have would last long because now that a year has passed since I last updated this blog, I have quite a number of skincare products that I’ve finished and are waiting to be reviewed. Until then, stay healthy and hope you have a nice day! (●'◡'●)
